Protection of Personal Information

In recognition of the importance of personal information collected by Shimadzu Mectem, Inc. (hereafter "Mectem"), such as personal information from customers or other such private information (hereafter collectively referred to as "personal information"), Mectem considers it their duty to carefully protect such information and has therefore established the following policy.

  1. Requests for Personal Information

    1) Whenever Mectem requests personal information, Mectem will publicly post, clearly state, or provide notification of the purpose for the information (purpose, scope of usage, contact information, etc.) in advance or promptly thereafter.

    2) If the purpose of use changes, such changes will be publicly posted or notification provided.

  2. Controlling Personal Information

    1) To ensure personal information is secure, such as from being leaked, destroyed or lost, Mectem has instituted control rules regarding the handling of personal information and enforces this policy throughout our organization.

    2) Mectem will not divulge personal information to any third party except in the following cases.
    1. The person to which the information is related provides consent.
    2. All or part of the personal information is provided to our supplier or service provider to the extent necessary to accomplish a stated purpose.
    3. The information is required or release permitted by a court of law or by law.
    4. The information cannot be identified with any particular person.

    3) If personal information is provided to a third party, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure, such as by contractual obligation, the information is not leaked or provided by the third party to an additional party.

  3. Handling Personal Information

    1) Personal information will be used as indicated by stated policy, notification, public posting, or to the extent required to accomplish the purpose for which consent was received.

    2) Personal information obtained from regular business activities, such as from exchanges of business cards, personal information obtained from the public domain, such as from the Internet, government reports, or company personnel directories, or personal information obtained from voluntarily provided sources, such as surveys, inquiries, requests for information, or applications for seminars or other such events, will be used if Mectem needs to contact that person.
    Furthermore, this information may be used for announcements about products or services, or for the purpose of surveys.

  4. Using Information Jointly Between Shimadzu Group Companies or Agencies

    1) Personal information obtained by Mectem may be shared among Shimadzu group companies or agencies with relevant responsibilities. Personal information from cooperating companies (including suppliers, subcontractors, or other service providers) may also be shared among Shimadzu group companies.

    2) All personal information that is shared will be carefully controlled, such as by contractual obligation through a confidentiality agreement, to prevent those with which the information is shared from leaking the information or providing it to others.
